#52 2 Corinthians 4: 17
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us
an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."
#53 Psalm 86: 15
"But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."
#54 Luke 18: 17
"Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God
like a little child will never enter it."
That last verse...that's what hit me strong listening to the Christmas sermon. Here our pastor was, talking about how we feel awkward when someone has a gift for us but we don't have one in return...but that's how we come to God, empty handed. And seeing all the kids in the pews, I thought..."Kids don't have that problem. They don't have any expectation that they should have anything to give back. They just are happy to get a gift." We should be like children with the gift of God's grace (and it's a good gift...the BIG gift under the tree, not the socks from Grandma).
ReplyDeleteGale, I don't know if you heard the story about the cross made from paint stirrers: Jack came with one in each hand and asked me for some tape. As I got it out, I asked him more about it. He said he wanted to have a cross up so we could have church because God forgave us. {sigh} How's that for receiving the kingdom of God?
